Time-Trial

‘The World’s Longest Precision Driving Test’

An exercise in precision driving against the clock

A amazing new division to the New Zealand Silver Fern Rally is the Time-Trial. It has been a hit for a few years in the Targa Tarmac Rally, so the question was asked “why not have a time-trial on gravel?” The Time-Trial is an exercise in precision driving, where you have specified times to try and match through stage, based on an average speed.

Vehicles are seperated by one-minute intervals and are monitored via the RallySafe GPS system (same as the competition vehicles).

The Time-Trial runs at a slower speed, with a maximum speed restriction of 130kph being monitored at all times through the RallySafe unit.

This is the best bang-for-buck!

If you want to know more, we can put you in touch with the 2024 entrants of the Time-Trial. They all absolutely loved it, and that has cemented it into the future of NZ Silver Fern Rally.

The true test is a 7 day, 1,000km Marathon Rally. A car straight off the lot simply isn’t going to enjoy this. A little bit of vehicle preparation is still required to ensure your mothers shopping-cart doesn’t fall apart throughout the event.

Required Safety Equipment: Fire Extinguisher, Safety Triangle, First Aid Kit, Window Breakers / Belt Cutters, RallySafe Wiring Kit (purchased here Fitting Kits – SAS Shop), Tow Rope, Helmets. Strongly suggest an intercom unit. This will be all confirmed in the Event Regulations, when these are published.
