New Zealand Rallying - Silver Fern Marathon Rally

ANNOUNCEMENT : 2010 Silver Fern Rally details coming soon.....

Welcome to the 2008 NZ Silver Fern Rally.

16th - 23rd OCTOBER 2008

Silver Fern 08

Andrew Grundy and Mark Smith from Christchurch, driving their Mazda RX7 were the winners of the 2008 Silver Fern Rally.

Following a successful event in October 2006, organisers of the NZ Silver Fern International Marathon Rally, promoted the 2008 NZ Silver Fern Rally also as an International Marathon event, based in the South Island of New Zealand, and run over eight days in late October (NZ Spring).

The scenic backdrop of NZ’s Southern Alps mountain range, and some of the very best rallying roads in the world gretted both local and overseas enthusiasts.

The event will covered 1000kms of high speed special stages, some as long as 100km’s, testing both cars and drivers from all over the world.

The organisers philosophy is of ‘bringing back the days of old’ in New Zealand motorsport, when rallying was an adventure, with the emphasis on endurance and reliability, but with a fun side attached.

The inaugural “Silver Fern” held in October 2006 proved highly successful, with 21 of the 69 entries from Europe and Australia, with the 20008 version attracting 53 starters with 16 from overseas.

The event caters for a variety of vehicles from Classic and Historic, pre 1992, modern 2 wheel drives, as well as some with significant competition history.

We look forward to you joining us on the next adventure in 2010, check out the following pages, and keep up to date with all the news from the event.
