| Listing: | This car entered the 1980-81-82 Motogard Rallies, 80-81 driven by Richard Kelsey,(1600 push rod.) 1982 by Gordon Edwards (Mr Chips Fame) BDA Powered. Next owner Peter Grimmer of Taupo, the car is well remembered as the fastest BDA in that region at the time. Then after Peter it sat for several years in a dismantled state before being purchased by D. Wakefeild a panelbeater of Whangaparaoa as a roller as it's running gear had long since disappeared. He spent several years rebuilding it as a RS2000 curcuit car. My neighbour was the next owner before me . I'm an aging mechanic that attended all the Rallies in the mid to late 70's sevicing for Tim Gibbes in the ex Work RS 1600 BDA. (Yamaha BDA.) The Escort has been my hobby and I have spent hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars bring it back close to the specs. it ran as a rally car. (apart from BDA power.) Specs, as new GRP4 ZF full floating Atlas, Billstein shock's front and rear, Adj. pedal box, hyd. hand brake. Quaife 5 sp.alloy case straight cut dog box (sierra type) ZF 1:1 gearbox with quick change bell housing and drive shaft also available at extra cost. Pinto motor just rebuilt, bottom end mainly stock with highly modded Mannon head with near new 48 DCOE webers. Peter Grimmer has recently visited and verified the car still retains it's original shell. Stored and unused for 2 long now, it should be out rallying or on the curcuit. $55000 will include the ZF Gearbox, shaft etc. Genuine inquiries only please. Part trades considered. |

A rebuilt Quaife Type 9 Heavy Duty Alloy gearbox with recently fitted new bearings & syncros and only 700 stage kms on the gear set The chassis has Group 4 Bilstien suspension, with a fully floating hubs Narrow Atlas fitted with a 5.1 final drive ratio, location is by a “long” four link with panhard rod set up, which is “period” late Mk1 & Mk2 specification.
